My last client who I took the photograph was my boy-friend (not boyfriend, ya), Menad. To be honest, he was so pathetic in front of the camera, lol. Still, I feel glad that he was so pathetic, if not this post isn't happen.

Boys will be boys, they never gonna be as slay as girl in front of camera. Except you boys are models or somewhat. So does him, I never got so confused before when someone asked me to photograph them. Until that day happened, chronologically he asked me to do the photo session in the theme of "parkiran", then we made deal, and we did the photo session. I thought that would be an usual photograph session like I have done before with my friends as the model but it didn't  really work. I realized that I need to give some advice, explore, and build the model's confidence for someone who is not really into the world or newbie.

My friend was not the typical editorial boys, he just a typical album cover guy for his band haha ( I wish you and your band always success, dude). It must be hard for him to act manly, of course, with a lot of different expression in front of camera to create the aesthetic looks. I would say that he has (no) potential to be model hahaha but if he has the willingness he will then. Why not, he has a good body not six-packs tho, pretty tall, and good looking if his hair not long anymore like Tarzan, because long hair do not suit you, sumpah nad.

That's why I write this post to let you know, especially boys, how to do the good poses if you are the "camera awkward" people. Note that I also newbie and do not mean to act like guru. I'm here writing this as your friend who gives you some tips about anything called fashion and photography from my point of view. Feel free to give comment, btw.

All this photos didn't took in the purpose of this post, actually. The idea just came up after I finished my photo session with my friend. Without further do, let's get into boys dos and don'ts.

1. LEANING
Boys better not lean their parts of bodies on something close to you if you don't know the proper way to pose that pose. It's a bit tricky pose, sometimes it works sometimes just don't. Trust me if this pose don't work to you, avoid this pose because you'll make your posture don't look in a good way.

DON'T

Instead of pushing your body why don't you try to pull your body off from the things around like the photos below. Your posture will be look better if you do the pose below. The long shot is on.

DO
2. FULL BODY
This is the part that I really concern about. Some boys will do this pose below when they suffer from "camera awkward" which is a big NO.
Big ewh

OMG, the photo below is way more more better rather than the photo above. Boys, if you really want to (or kepaksa) do full body pose, make sure you spread your legs and your arm wisely.

Nad, please do this more often.

3. HANDS
I have to tell you that this guy always put his hands in front of his body. I don't know why but I don't really like that idea. And why you have to cross your legs, Nad, by the way. LOL. Okay, boys, again I think you should not put your hands in front of your body. I don't know but I think that pose is not really manly. Ya, I know why he did that pose because he's a band member and that pose is quite famous among band members.

Wth are u doing, dude
It's good already, but the hand. Why? :(
If you think you don't have the idea of full body pose, you can try this pose below. Still full body but in a different way and much better. You can put your hands on your things close to you if you think you can't keep your hands to yourself.

Good boy, apik nad iki

 4.POSTURE
Straighten your back when you have to sit on the floor-except that the pose is for editorial look. As I know from my own observation on boys' poses, they always keep their posture in a good way even though their body is not really wow. You don't need to straighten your back for some editorial concept but if it is not, don't forget to straighten your back.

DO

DON'T

5. ANGLE
If boys also feel the "bad hair day", "fatty fatty me", and "shorty shorty me", girls are not alone. The problem can be solved by the angle and the shot mode. Luckily, Menad have cut his hair so there was no hair and wind problem on the natural set. If you have, maybe side angle will be good. If you think you are fatty, wide shot may be work. For the shorty like me, low angle surely nailed.

100 kalo ekspresinya gak gitu, nad.
